THE CONFERENCE
The Postgraduate Conference provides an excellent opportunity for postgraduate students and early-career researchers to present their research in a friendly environment, engage in debates with other researchers and speak with specialists in the field of sexual offences.
The aim of this conference is to encourage and facilitate a dialogue on contemporary legal and sociological issues surrounding sexual offences with other researchers, leading academics and practitioners, through paper presentations and plenary sessions.
The conference will hold three plenary sessions and close with a round table made up of some of the leading academics and practitioners in the area of sexual offences. The round table title is ‘Consent in Morality and Law: Never the Twain Shall Meet?’. There will be a conference dinner on the Friday evening at a local restaurant.
We welcome a multi-disciplinary approach and would encourage papers in areas including (but not limited to):
Charging criteria
Evidential and prosecutorial issues
Sexual offences legislation
Sexual offences in international criminal law
Rape as a weapon of war
Offender rehabilitation
Restorative justice (both national and international)
Public perceptions of sex offences and sex offenders
Consent
Comparative studies on sexual offences
A selection of papers from the conference will be published as an online collection.
